If you are testing cannabis products, it is REQUIRED by the State of Illinois that one of our certified sample collectors comes to your facility to pick up the sample. CBD and Hemp samples can be shipped directly to our office once you have a customer account set up. Contact Origo Labs through the Contact Us page or by email at email@example.com to discuss arrangements.
Sample size depends on the product type and volume of each strain. For me details, please reach us at (440) 391-2007 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that sample size requirements might change based on the State of Illinois updating its guidelines.
This is one of the most frequently asked questions we get and there is no simple answer, since we test for so many different things for different purposes. Farmers, processors, seed suppliers, and retailers all have different needs. It all comes down to if there is a minimum requirement for your state or if it’s for your own records. We strongly recommend testing 2-3 plants, at minimum, for each varietal you are growing. Since the plant itself is variable and the seed stocks are still stabilizing, you want to make sure that the sample you send is not an outlier.

We require pre-payment on all orders. We accept cash, credit card, check, wire transfer and ACH.
It depends on your comfort and confidence level as a grower, processor or seed supplier. More testing is usually better, but a good place to start would be with the following guidelines:
- For growers, we recommend, at minimum, testing 2-3 times.
- Once mid-growing season to try and determine when your harvest will be.
- Once before you schedule the state of Illinois for compliance testing.
- Once after harvest to have an accurate Certificate of Analysis (COA) once your final product is fit for sale.
- Processors should always test the final product. We also strongly recommend processors confirm all products that they’re buying from suppliers before it’s processed/extracted to alleviate worry about contaminants in the extractor and contaminating all downstream batches.
- We recommend that seed suppliers test each seed strain for germination rates and male/female ratios prior to selling. Retailers can significantly benefit from testing each new product from each new supplier to ensure maximum safety.
Product Development (R&D) Testing allows you to select any or all of the compliance tests you wish, without the results being sent to the state of Illinois. It is recommended to do Product Development (R&D) testing prior to submitting your sample for the full Illinois Compliance testing if you are concerned about passing a specific test category. We offer Product Development (R&D) testing to licensed distributors/growers/dispensaries/manufacturers, qualified caregivers as well as medical patients. Please reach out to us at (440) 391-2007 or email@example.com for more details on our Product Development (R&D) testing.
The main difference between Product Development (R&D) Testing vs. Illinois Compliance Testing is that Quality Assurance Testing is NOT REPORTED to the state authorities and is recommended to test for new products to ensure it will pass the Illinois Compliance Testing that is reported to the state on a pass/fail basis.
This drastically depends on which state you anticipate selling your products. The majority of the states only require potency testing. Other states are beginning to require the same tests required for medical and recreational cannabis products. You’ll need to check your local laws or contact us for additional information on your state guidelines. However, the law is not the only reason to test. If you’re growing or processing for human consumption, the safe and ethical thing to do is make sure there’s no contamination of your product. Whether that’s heavy metals, pesticides, solvents, bacteria, or fungus, you should make sure what people are consuming is 100% safe.
